The gold horn was a normal port, in particular the shore of Eminönü - Sirkeci, which to be on a Yeni Camiipeninsula was also eminently justifiable. It was for this port that Istanbul was built, and from here Istanbul developed, with the oldest vicinities being left zones along the gold horn. In time the port bizantin was also occupied by the traders of Genoa and Pisa, which thereafter acquired their own quays and zones of edge of sea. The gold horn was always a prosperous port in a few times of stool, occupied by importers, carriers, sailors and tradesmen of each description, the center of the exchanges of the city, a labryinth of the narrow wokshops of streets and markets carrying out to the top with the palate of Topkapı, the capital of stool. The name of the zone, Eminönü, also reflects its place in the history. Translated of Turkish to English it means harshly 'in front of justice'. Significance 'justice' of Emin, significance of önü 'in front'. The name came most probably from the courses of stool and the customs houses on the docks. The nature of the place naturally changed in the industrial age; the bridge of Galata was built through the gold horn; the steamers came, then electricity, then the railroad and the terminal of Istanbul of the express East were naturally located at the station of Sirkeci. The dams always surrounded the city, and them seaports of the port of Eminönü were the entrance point for goods, and people. After the
enormous station, other large stone buildings followed towards the purpose of the period of stool, the buildings commercial, the central post office between others. And in days early of the Turkish Republic, MeydanEminönü was renovated intensively; the great place was open in front of Yeni Cami (by releasing outside the tollbooths at the end of the bridge of Galata); The spice bazaar was reconstituted; the market in fish was was released in addition to shore from the horn from gold and a road open to the new bridge at Unkapanı. By the Fifties, the sector without interruption was blocked with the traffic, which was relieved slightly by construction of the main road of coast around the point and of very left to the airport Istanbul.
